Elin Peterson

Elin Peterson holds a PhD in Political Science from Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). She has extensive experience in qualitative research on gender and care-related policies across various European contexts. Her research areas include public policy, welfare states, gender, and care work, with a special interest in care services for older people and the interconnections with migration. Throughout her academic career, she has been part of multiple international research teams, including the European projects FIERCE (Feminist Movements Revitalizing Democracy in Europe), QUING (Quality in Gender+ Equality Policies), and MAGEEQ (Policy Frames and Implementation Problems – The Case of Gender Mainstreaming). She held an International Postdoctoral Research position at the Department of Social Work, Stockholm University, where her project focused on care for older people and struggles for recognition and redistribution. At Stockholm University she subsequently contributed to the development of several projects, where she explored topics such as the marketization of care and its effects on working conditions, the valuation of care, and broader social inequalities. She recently participated in the project The Long-Term Care Model in Transition: The Integration of Community Programs Within the Public Welfare System After COVID-19, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. Currently a researcher in the European Horizon project FIERCE, her work focuses primarily on feminist advocacy related to care and gender-based violence. Her research has been published in international journals such as the European Journal of Women’s Studies, the International Journal of Care and Caring, Ageing & Society, Gender, Work & Organization, and NORA Nordic Journal of Feminist and Gender Research.
